Made after a long afternoon at MoMA, when your head’s buzzing with Brancusi, Giacometti, and too many people pretending not to look.

This small terracotta sculpture is one part homage, one part instinct. Hand-shaped in a single sitting, it captures that in-between moment where the figure becomes a character, and the character becomes a stand-in for something you can’t quite name.

The surface is rough, the grin is crooked, and the whole thing leans just enough to feel human. Stands proudly on its own base, held up by a rusted steel rod that’s doing its best.
